Hearing Aids
What are Hearing aids?
Hearing aids are small, sophisticated devices designed to improve hearing by amplifying sound. These devices can be worn either behind the ear or inside the ear, depending on the specific model and the user’s preference. They are essential tools for individuals experiencing hearing loss, allowing them to hear more clearly and engage more fully in daily activities.
The process of obtaining hearing aids typically begins with a comprehensive hearing test conducted by an Audiologist or a Hearing Aid Dispenser. During this test, the professional evaluates the extent and nature of the hearing loss, determining whether hearing aids are the appropriate solution. If a hearing loss is identified, the Audiologist or Hearing Aid Dispenser will recommend the most suitable type of hearing aid, taking into account the individual’s specific needs, lifestyle, and preferences.
How do I get hearing aids?
You can get hearing aids via the NHS or privately.
The referral process for NHS hearing aids differs depending on your area, age and hearing loss. To get NHS hearing aids you should ask your GP to refer you via the most appropriate route. That could be through a 3rd party provider or the local hospital audiology/ENT department. Wait times will depend on which route you are referred and your local wait times.
For private hearing aids you should contact a private hearing aid dispenser. This could be a local independent company (like us) or a national chain. All private audiologists are legally required to be registered with HCPC before selling hearing aids. Privately the national average cost for a pair of hearing aids is between £1500-4000, although some companies are more expensive. There a lots of different brands and care packages out there, if you want any advice please get in touch.

As an independent company, we have the flexibility to work with a wide range of brands, ensuring that we can offer the best solutions for our clients. Currently, we primarily partner with leading manufacturers such as Oticon, Phonak, Widex and Starkey. These brands are at the forefront of hearing aid technology, known for their innovation and exceptional quality.
Our hearing aids are priced starting at £1,695 for a pair, reflecting our commitment to offering a balance between advanced technology and affordability. While there are lower-priced options available on the market, our experience has shown that these often lack the reliability and performance of higher-quality models. In many cases, they are comparable to the standard hearing aids provided by the national health system, rather than offering a significant upgrade. We believe in providing our patients with hearing aids that deliver superior performance and long-term satisfaction.
