Ear Impressions
Ear impressions are needed for a number of custom hearing products such as:
- Ear plugs
- In ear monitors
- Hearing aids
- Hearing aid moulds
What's the process?
- Your ears are checked to make sure they are healthy and clear of wax
- A small sponge called an ‘otostop’ is placed into your ear canal to protect the ear drum and make sure the impression material goes to the correct length.
- The ear is filled with impression material using a plastic syringe
- It takes several minutes for the impression material to harden. This length of time depends on room and body temperature.
- Once the material is hard it can then be removed, revealing your ear impression
- The ears are then checked again to ensure all of the material has been removed and the canals are still healthy.
