Ear Impressions

Ear impressions are needed for a number of custom hearing products such as:

  • Ear plugs
  • In ear monitors
  • Hearing aids
  • Hearing aid moulds
What's the process?
  1. Your ears are checked to make sure they are healthy and clear of wax
  2. A small sponge called an ‘otostop’ is placed into your ear canal to protect the ear drum and make sure the impression material goes to the correct length.
  3. The ear is filled with impression material using a plastic syringe
  4. It takes several minutes for the impression material to harden. This length of time depends on room and body temperature.
  5. Once the material is hard it can then be removed, revealing your ear impression
  6. The ears are then checked again to ensure all of the material has been removed and the canals are still healthy.
